So, I like making pretty things... Hapi is my own baby brand where I design and make those things. The products are mainly handmade fashion accessories and apparel inspired by heritage and folkloric arts. Through my work on Hapi, I learn and implement various beading and embroidery techniques, and I use natural and handmade materials too whenever possible.
The name is actually a nickname that my Mom calls me, but it's also the name of the personification of The River Nile in Ancient Egypt. Back then the name symbolized the connection between the north and south of Egypt and it was related to the nurturing and well-being that great river provided for the Egyptians. The name was just perfect, it had my own identity with that heritage touch I always seek. It also represented what I wanted to do, gathering and connecting crafts and handmade techniques from all over Egypt and re-designing them in a modern way suiting today's fashionistas. And who wouldn't want a brand name so close to "Happy" too!
